Some couples really struggle to make decisions together. So they make important decisions independently and try to force their decision on their loved one. This will certainly not create a healthy relationship. We all have preferences, personal thoughts, feelings, and desires. Sometimes these conflict with those of our loved one. This is the very essence of being human.
There is nothing wrong with disagreements. However, we must strive to listen to each other in order to understand the other person’s thoughts, feelings, and desires. Once we understand each other, then we can work together to find a solution. Compromise is not a bad word. Webster dictionary states that a compromise is “a settlement by consent reached by mutual concession.”
That is healthy decision making and vital for the success of any relationship.
